The 2012 Oregon Rhetoric and Composition Conference will bring together educators from high schools, community colleges, and four-year public and private colleges and universities to consider a range of practical and theoretical issues related to rhetoric and composition, language, and literacy.

What: 2012 Oregon Rhetoric & Composition Conference

When: Saturday, April 14, 2012, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Why: To present, share, and collaborate on ideas.
How: Participants may print a registration form found on the website or may register on the day of the conference. Maps, directions, parking instructions, and lodging may be found on the website.

Winter 2012 Meeting

Chemeketa Community College is hosting the Winter 2012 OWEAC meeting, Friday, February 3, 2012.  We will meet in Building 3, Room 118. from 8:30 – 3:30.

Continental breakfast, coffee, and socializing begins at 8:30, and the meeting begins at 9:00 A.M.

Parking:

Visitor Parking Permits are available at the kiosk on Cooley Drive as you come into campus.

After picking up your free visitor permit (if the kiosk isn’t staffed, pull up to the remote, push the button, and the permit will be delivered upon request)

You can park anywhere on campus with your visitor’s permit, but be sure to park “head in” as cars are ticketed that are backed into parking spots.

Parking in the Green lot next to the kiosk will be the closest to Building 3 / Room 118/119, where we will be meeting.

Lodging Options in Salem:

Downtown Salem $$$: The Grand Hotel is among the nicest lodgings available in Salem

Closest to Chemeketa $$: The Rodeway Inn is close to campus and likely more modest in all respects

Market Street and I-5: At this exit, you’ll find a variety of motels; these are also within a mile or so of campus.

ILAGO would especially like to encourage you to consider workgroup number 3, which will be geared toward instructional faculty.

IL in the Desert: Information Literacy instruction without a Librarian
In this workgroup participants will learn activities, assignments, and techniques for teaching IL outcomes without (or with limited access to) a librarian.  Participants will discuss providing instruction in traditional, online, and hybrid environments. A culmination of the morning’s findings will be presented in the afternoon. Facilitated by Theresa Yancey and Jaime Zinck.

OWEAC Winter 2011 Meeting

Oregon State University will be hosting us on Friday, February 11, for our Winter Meeting.

The Meeting will be held in the Memorial Union, American Indian Room 211.  Breakfast will be available by 8:15, with the meeting beginning at 8:30.
